Review Of Hollywood, Je T'aime

Hollywood, Je T'aime provides an interesting twist on the idea of following one's dreams, and it does so with charm and finesse.  A Parisian to finds his life and his love drifting away decides to pursue his fantasy in Lala land. 

Eric Debets turns in a solid performance as the protagonist, Jerome, finding that real life is a tattered imitation of a beautiful dream.  However, it is the too often overlooked talent of Chad Allen that is the rudder of the French expatriot and of this film.  He enlivens the screen with each appearance that his relatively minor character makes.

When Jerome needs to make a life defining decision at the film's dramatic climax, there is irony in that his decision is, in fact, based upon yet another fantasy, albeit a fantasy that is familiar and comfortable rather than one that is strange and foreign.
