Review Of The Opposite Of Sex

The Opposite Of Sex moves from romance through melodrama to action-adventure to raise stimulating questions about the role of sex both inside and out of a loving relationship. The director manages to keep a reign on what might have become a runaway horse with an exquisite performance by Christina Ricci.

The match of the convoluted plot with the equally so theme results in a film that is at once entertaining and challenging.  Similarly the intriguing mix of actors allow their characters to form a nuanced stew rather than a lumpy gravy.

Lisa Kudrow’s strait-laced character plays the perfect foil for the talented Ricci, while Ivan Sergei is the ideal eye candy, displaying a dim-witted nature belying his soft and thoughtful inner beauty.

This is far more than a cut above the average, predictably plastic American made gay movie.
