Lionel, a gay man in a long term relationship, discovers that one of his grandparents was
originally Polish. For a reason that this film never explains, Lionel takes that bit of news as a clue

I agree with most critics who complain that the actions of the protagonist are unmotivated. While
that is a narrativ flaw that is difficult to overlook, the film is really nothing more than a traditional “road”
movie. Director Baier employs all of the conventions of the genre with no real new twists but with admiring
imitation. The result is quirky entertainment…as long as you can overcome the narrative shortcomings.
This is nothing more than a “popcorn movie,” enjoyable if you expect only that.
